Overall Gammoth Rating: 9.1

The Good:

  • Small size
  • High quality audio
  • Light and comfortable

The Bad:

  • Button commands

The LG HBM-730 is an extremely small and lighweight Bluetooth earpiece that easily converts for either ear. The earloop holds the earpiece securely to the user’s ear, and is thin enough that it doesn’t interfere with glasses or sunglasses. Weighing in at 9.4g (0.3oz), the LG HBM-730 is one of the lightest Bluetooth headsets on the market and it seems to fit very comfortably. The HBM-730 also includes a convenient detachable lanyard for when the device is not in use. The small design offers all of the necessary features and technology for everyday use, and the buttons are relatively easy to find while wearing the device. Learning the power button commands, however, definitely requires referencing the manual for instruction and is still slightly confusing until the commands are memorized. When the HBM-730’s power button is pressed, the user’s finger covers the LED light making it difficult to determine whether the unit has actually powered on/off. Although its compact size restricts the available talk time to an estimated 3.5 hours, the average cell phone user will likely find this to be an adequate charge. Despite the small size, the sound quality was surprisingly good, and the range of about 8 meters was more than enough for normal use.

As a cell phone user who hates the bulky, heavy Bluetooth headsets, I personally found the HBM-730 to be one of the most comfortable and simple headsets available and would highly recommend it for the average user.
