Apple iPhone Being Released in Canada … Finally!

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

The Apple iPhone has been around for some time now … well, not quite a year but quickly approaching its one year birthday.  As the demand is getting greater, people are constantly trying to get their paws on these media-loving devices.  But just recently, it has been announced that the iPhone will finally be released in “Oh, Canada.”  Rogers Wireless struck a deal with Apple that has finally brought the highly sought after device to Canada after months of speculation.  Canadians and Apple are bound to be smitten after this deal … because it is the best for both worlds, eh?

What Would You Do for an iPhone?

With the release of the 3G iPhone approaching (still talks about June) and the new software development kit (SDK) this summer, I think iPhone’s will be flying off the shelf and the demand will be much greater than the supply.  So we are starting early at Gammoth …. what would YOU do for an iPhone, given that it has all the new bells and whistles?

3G iPhone Versus 3G BlackBerry … Who’s Going to Win?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

It’s been run through the rumor mill that the 3G BlackBerry for AT&T will delay its release from June to August because of a “technical glitch.”  Fortune magazine reported on Thursday that the delay in the launch of BlackBerry 8900 is because of concerns of call quality.  And since AT&T is the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. and wants to maintain its valued reputation, therefore it is necessary to fix this problem before any 3G BlackBerry is released.

iPhone vs. BlackBerry

We all know that the release of the 3G version of the iPhone is expected in the early summer months (analyst say June 9!), so some speculate that AT&T wanted to delay the 3G version of the BlackBerry so they wouldn’t have to deal with competing interests.  But just for fun … who would win this competition?

The Smartphone Battle

RIM and Apple are the two major smartphone companies in the U.S.  In June, it is expected that Apple will release an SDK which will be enterprise-friendly and give RIM a run for its money as far as a “corporate smartphone” goes.  RIM already has the corporate-user base that Apple will need to establish once the SDK is released, but it makes me wonder how the delay in the release of the 3G version for BlackBerry (BlackBerry 8900) will affect corporate users.  Will corporate beings give the 3G iPhone a shot once it is established with its SDK?  I am guessing so … this summer should be a tell-all summer as far as corporate smartphone’s go … we just get to sit back and watch the battle.  4 … 3 … 2 … BATTLE!

The Ideal Smartphone

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I have been pondering this question for some time now … what is the ideal smartphone?  Is it one that is on a 3G network?  One that has push e-mail?  A QWERTY keyboard?  Oh I know, what about an SDK?  How about viewing/editing capabilities?  Touchscreen interactive?  MP3 player included?  Streaming video capabilities?  I have gone through the options that would seem to make the most sense for a smartphone, but have yet to come up with the “ideal smartphone.”

 Possibilities for the Ideal Phone

The Apple iPhone has been ridiculously succesful in 2007 and is gaining momentum again with the release of the 3G and SDK soon.  But is the iPhone the BEST smartphone available?  Many people in the corporate world have been accustomed to using a BlackBerry because they are able to access their corporate e-mail and the BlackBerry has great features for the corporate professional.  All in the same, the iPhone has great features too, but is aimed at the media guru.  Of course, there are other battles with the AT&T Tilt or the Palm Centro …. but the bottom line is what is the best smartphone in the current market?

Tell Me More, Tell Me More

So I am going to be curious … what do YOU think the best smartphone is on the market and if you don’t believe there is the “ideal smartphone” yet available, what would be included?  I think it is valuable that consumers put in their two-cents because in the end, we are the ones purchasing the product.  So I leave you with this … in your opinion, what would the “ideal smartphone” entail?
