Among the biggest events of this summer, we are lucky enough to get the debut of a new iPhone and the 2008 Olympics just a month apart. While we’re all enjoying these two joyous occasions, I can’t help but think how wonderful it would be if we could marry the two? It turns out I’m a little late - it’s already happened, complete with diamonds.

De Vere’s of London has developed the Olympic iPhone - with the ultimate in iPhone accessories: diamond encrustment- especially for the games, set to start 08/08/08 in Beijing. This fancy housing will cost you thousands of dollars (on top of the cost of the iPhone and plan itself) and will be offered in three versions. The 28-diamond version is the bargain-option, at just over $3,300, followed by the 88-diamond version (at over $8,000) and the highest-end 168-diamond version coming in at nearly $15,500. The most interesting part of these options offered for your soon-to-be-sparkly iPhone? In Chinese culture the number 28 symbolizes ‘easy wealth’, the number 88 symbolizes ‘wealth’, and the number 168 symbolizes ‘always prosperous’. Well put, De Vere’s.
