Stereo Bluetooth Does It All

What is Stereo Bluetooth?

Stereo Bluetooth enables you to listen to music wirelessly from your cell phone and take phone calls from the same headset in the same use. While most wireless headphones do not provide a microphone and do not allow for wireless conversation, and most headsets cannot be used to listen to your cell phone’s music player, Stereo Bluetooth headsets provide the maximum in functionality.

How Does it Work?

A2DP is what makes this technology work. Advanced Audio Distribution Profile is supported natively by most Bluetooth 2.0 headsets, and “is designed to transfer a uni-directional 2-channel stereo audio stream, like music from an MP3 player, to a headset or car radio.”(from Wikipedia -”Bluetooth Tutorial - Profiles“. palowireless Pty Ltd. Retrieved on 2007-01-05)

Why Do I Want It?

Stereo Bluetooth is the future of wireless headsets. From avid music-lovers like myself, who find themselves always with headphones on, but don’t want to worry about missing a call or switching headsets to take a call (also like myself), to gamers who want to listen to music while trash-talking their online Call of Duty opponents, but also would like to avoid the tangle of cords that wired-headsets provide, Stereo Bluetooth gives us everything we need in one neat, tidy, multi-tasking package. And since this technology means buying only one product where you would otherwise need two or more, you will be saving money by investing in a Stereo Bluetooth headset.

What are my Options?

From slim and sporty, to big, comfortable sound, you can find whatever you are looking for in a Bluetooth Stereo headset.

My favorite is the MOTOROKR S9. This lightweight, work-out ready headset is perfect for the gym or a long walk, and lets you enjoy your cell phone’s music player to the fullest while making sure no calls are missed. The behind-the-head style means this headset is super-comfortable and, at only 1.14 ounces, you likely will forget its even there.

If you’re in the market for something that is going to deliver top-notch sound, and you are less concerned about how active your headset will allow you to be, the Plantronics Pulsar 590E is the way to go. With up to 10 hours of music-listening life from one charge, and easy one-touch call answering, this headset offers high end function and comfort.
