The CTIA Wireless 2008 is being held in Las Vegas and is an opportunity for new technology in the wireless world to be exhibited and displayed. Much of this technology is extremely advanced and something we could only dream up … and much of it is not for sale, but then Motorola comes to CTIA with a brilliant marketing stunt (or not). They introduce a car phone. No, it’s not the bag phone you had back in the 1990’s … instead it’s a trendy “smartphone-looking” type phone.

Reality of the Car Phone
There are really nothing too special about this phone being deemed a “car phone” as opposed to a smartphone. Oh wait there is a difference, this phone is fixed in your car so it’s the only place you can use it. Yes, creative genius Motorola has invented just that with the Motorola Smart Rider Car Phone. But don’t totally discredit it, there are a couple added benefits with this car phone (as there are with many smartphones) … it is GPS enabled and also has Bluetooth technology which makes the phone play nice.
Motorola: A Car Phone … Really?
I needed to pinch myself after I read this story because I literally was flabbergasted at the approach Motorola took on this. Who knows, it could be a great hit and people might actually buy into it being a “car phone” as opposed to buying an “anywhere-you-go-it-still-works-even-in-your-car-with-a-holster-phone.” Good luck selling this one Motorola … and if you are really interested in buying this “car phone,” it comes out June 2008.
