Bus Driver Chooses GPS Over Warning Sign
We all love our GPS systems. They tell us turn-by-turn directions and eventually lead us to our desired destination. Sometimes our favorite GPS systems take us a roundabout way to getting there, but eventually we arrive. Well how about this story out of Seattle, WA.
This morning Engadget reported that the driver of a charter bus carrying a high school girls softball team followed the sweet voice of the GPS which bus driver steered the 11-foot, 8-inch high straight into a pedistrian walking bridge. The driver rejected the large “CLEARANCE 9′ - 0″” sign and proceeded to barge right into the bridge. The accident happened in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 16.
Reportedly, no one had any major injuries, but come on! Of course the GPS is our little friend and it saves us from getting lost time after time, but if there is a warning sign, for goodness sake, believe it. We still have to follow rules of the road, even though the GPS is there to navigate us on our way.
