It has been rumored in many UK news outlets that Sir Paul McCartney has reached a deal with Apple to offer the entire Beatles catolog on the iTunes Store. The deal is reportedly worth around $400 million and comes after months of speculation between the once feuding companies. Of course all wounds are healed and the deal is set. So as I see it, the most popular band of all-time has finally found its place in an online marketplace. And what better company to ease this process than Apple?
Who Gets the Money?
According to an article on crave.net, McCartney will be keeping most of the money while others (family of deceased Beatles, Ringo Starr, Sony, EMI and Michael Jackson) will benefit from this deal too. There is no exact date when the Beatles catalog will be released to the iTunes Store, but we are sure that the Beatlemania will reign again.
Honestly, did you expect anything less from Steve Jobs and Apple? With this deal, I am positive that the Beatles and Apple will be frolicking in “Strawberry Fields Forever” …..
