BlackBerry Storm (a.k.a. iPhone Killer) Gets “Boxed”

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The iPhone Killer (as RIM makers like to call it) is just around the corner and Verizon will be the first to get started with the new and innovative BlackBerry Storm.  This is RIM first entrance into the scary but ever-so-popular world of touchscreens and is officially named the BlackBerry 9350 Storm.  Details of the Storm are somewhat slim, but we do know that it is a global phone  (includes SIM card), and will feature an 8GB SanDisk microSD card pre-installed.

RIM is continuously putting out new devices that are making great hits on the market.  While the iPhone is continually gaining ground, BlackBerry needs to stir up a storm to shake that ol’ apple tree.  No pun intended.  Anyways, we certain that the BlackBerry Storm/BlackBerry Thunder are all the same, and thus, BlackBerry needs to decide which weather pattern it will go forth with.

Either way, I think the storm might give the apple tree a run for its money.  Let’s see some friendly competition, shall we?

Garmin Expands its Line of GPS Navigation

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

The ever-popular GPS maker is putting out a new (but old) slew of handheld GPS devices.  Garmin is spitting out a nice selection of satnavs that are sure to make a great fit to your windshield in the near future.  The company will introduce updates to its low-end devices in the 2 x 5 series, including the 265T, 265WT and 275T.  The updates will include lifetime traffic alerts via NAVTEQ Traffic, Bluetooth connectivity, and are offered in a 3.5-inch or 4.3-inch touchscreen version.

Garmin also threw out an update to its higher-end devices including its 7 x 5 lineup, bringing the 755T, 765T, and 775T into the mix.  The devices will show off a 4.3-inch touchscreen, NAVTEQ traffic updates, 3D transparent building views, accelerated graphics rendering, and HotFix (aka “critical satellite information”).  There hasn’t been any information on a release date or pricing for the new models, but we should see them on the market in the near future.

In the meantime, check out the selection of Garmin GPS products that Gammoth has to offer … and know that we will be updating our product list as soon as we get our hands on these little devices.

Bluetooth headsets are changing the way we view this world and the technology in it.  With hands-free laws popping up all over the country, many people are turning to the internet to find out which headsets are worth the money.  So guess what I do?  Put together a list of my firsthand experiences with these Bluetooth headsets and rank them in the order that I see best fit.  Completely free of bias?  Maybe not, but I try my best.  Check out the list below of my top four Bluetooth headsets available on the market today … go hands-free today!

The Jawbone continues to impress by eliminating real world noise better than any other headset on the market. The mobile phone is a vital communication tool for business and personal productivity. Because of this, people expect to be able to use their phones in all environments without sacrificing audio quality. Jawbone’s patented NoiseAssassin™ technology is unique in its ability to separate speech from ambient noise with remarkable precision. The NoiseAssassin™ technology will continue to provide users with a clear call quality and the noise reduction that callers expect using Jawbone products.

Like it or Leave it

The above headsets are what I believe to be the best headsets available on the market today.  From my experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Jawbone 2 headset as it is easy-to-use and has great sound quality.  I’ve also loved my experiences with BlueAnt headsets and Plantronics as they are some of the best manufacturer’s in the Bluetooth headset market.  Either way, it’s a great time to transition to a Bluetooth headset and this is a great place to start.
